South Middle Spotlight - January 2019
South Middle Spotlight takes a look back at some of the segments that originally aired on HTV (Homeroom Television), the live, daily, morning-news show broadcast to South Middle’s students and staff. These segments showcase a variety of events at South Middle, including: Chef Party, Club Fair, No Place for Hate Assembly, and more. South Middle Spotlight airs at 8:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32.
North Middle Winter Concert 2018
North Middle Winter Concert includes performances by the North Middle Chorus, Concert Band, and String Orchestra from their concert on Dec. 19. All three performing groups feature musicians in grades 7 and 8. Instrumental groups are under the direction of Matthew Trinkwald, music department head, and vocal groups are under the direction of Arielle Murdocco on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32.
Faculty Rectial
The Faculty Recital 2018 features music performances by the talented staff of Great Neck Public Schools. Faculty members perform vocal and instrumental pieces as soloists or in groups. Performances include a variety of classical pieces, as well as selections from Broadway, opera, and classic rock genres. Focus on Education: New Elementary School Principals
Focus on Education is an ongoing series hosted by Superintendent Dr. Teresa Prendergast, highlighting what’s new and interesting in the district. This episode features interviews with Dr. Michael Grimaldi, the new principal of E.M. Baker School, and Luciana Bradley, the new principal of Saddle Rock School. Ms. Bradley had previously served as assistant principal of Saddle Rock since 2005. Focus on Education airs at 11 a.m., 5 p.m. and 11 p.m on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32.
South High Winter Concert 2, 2018
South High Winter Concert II features performances by the Symphonic Band, Concert Choir, Chamber String Orchestra, and Chamber Symphony Orchestra from the Winter Concert on Dec. 13. The concert was under the direction of Michael Schwartz, performing arts department head/instrumental teacher, and Dr. Janine Robinson, vocal music teacher. South High Winter Concert II view times are: 7 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32.
South High Cultural Heritage 2018
South High Cultural Heritage Night features wonderful songs, dances, and performances that celebrate the cultural diversity of the school. Performances include: Korean Techno, Martial Arts, Chinese Ribbon Dance, presentations by the African American Culture Club, American Sign Language Club, Hebrew Culture Club, and more. South High Cultural Heritage Night airs at 7:30 a.m., and 1:00 and 7:30 p.m. on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32.
Tune in to see the Blazers and the Rebels face off on the basketball court during the intradistrict varsity basketball game from Dec. 5. North/South Basketball Game airing times are: 9:00 a.m., and 2:30 and 9:00 p.m on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32.
The North Middle Spotlight features highlights from recent programs at North Middle School, including the No Place for Hate kickoff assemblies, Relay for Life culminating event, Club Fair, Harlem Wizards basketball game, and highlights from the One Acts performance. South Middle Winter Concert I features performances by the South Middle Senior Orchestra, Senior Chorus, Band 7, and Band 8. Music groups perform classical selections, popular works, and traditional holiday classics under the direction of Music Department Head Alan Schwartz, Mark Boschen, Andrew DeNise, and Korey Coppola. South Middle Winter Concert I airs at 11:00 a.m., 5:30 and 11:00 p.m on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32.

Inside the GNPS/TV Vaults looks back at videos and programs from district archives spanning the past 50 years. Many of these television shows are being seen for the first time since they were broadcast. Over the last few years, original, fragile tapes from GNPS/TV have been digitally archived on computers. The footage has been preserved and improved for rebroadcasting. This episode of Inside the GNPS/TV Vaults includes: highlights from North Middle School’s 1998 musical production of Annie; clips from the 2004 North High School video yearbook; the 2006 South High School name-changing ceremony honoring William A. Shine; excerpts of South High’s 2006 production of Sweeney Todd; the 2003 North High/South High girls varsity softball game and more! Student Filmmakers Showcase highlights short films produced, edited, and directed by middle and high school students. The Showcase offers a variety of films and styles. Many of the films originate from media classes around the district. The program is hosted by Robert Zahn, district director of educational television and broadcast media.
