Students learn best when their social and emotional needs are met. The Lakeville School follows the Responsive Classroom approach to teaching and learning and has incorporated Mindfulness exercises into the children's day. This has helped us to create a uniquely warm and nurturing environment for all of our learners.
In order to be successful in and out of school, students need to learn a set of social and emotional competencies—cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self control—and a set of academic competencies—academic mindset, perseverance, learning strategies, and academic behaviors.
