North Middle Wins Vocabulary Bowl
For the third consecutive year, North Middle School has been crowned Division II Champions in the annual Vocabulary Bowl, sponsored by vocabulary.com.
The Vocabulary Bowl is a competition in which students master new words to score points for their school. North Middle students learned the most new words of any middle school (grades 6–8) with 500–999 students, thus earning the Middle School Division II Championship title. In total, North Middle students mastered 127,824 new words during the 2020–21 school year.
“The Blazers’ decisive win cemented their Bowl legacy and sets them up as the ones to beat in Division II next season,” reads an announcement on the vocabulary.com website.
In addition to their Division II title, North Middle placed second out of all New York schools that competed in the 2020–21 Vocabulary Bowl; fourth out of all middle schools in the nation; and thirteenth overall out of 43,520 schools representing grades K–12 in the United States and Canada.
