South High VE Students Win Medals at Regional Event

On Jan. 10, students from South High School’s Virtual Enterprise (VE) course attended the Long Island Regional Conference and Trade Show Exhibition at LIU Post. This event brings together nearly 2,000 VE students, educators, and business leaders from across the region.

During the Trade Show portion of the event, students presented their virtual businesses and sold their virtual products to other students for virtual money. Students practiced their sales skills and visited all the other virtual businesses from around Long Island. South High’s virtual business, “CoreTech,” is a technology company specializing in eyewear including smart glasses (C-Specs) and a virtual reality headset (C-Play).

The Regional Conference also included competitions in trade show booth design, salesmanship, impact marketing, and more. South High’s team was awarded silver medals in the trade show booth design competition and the Virtual Enterprise Newsletter competition. Additionally, South High students presented their carefully-crafted business plan to a panel of judges during a business plan competition.

Virtual Enterprise International is an organization that simulates a real-life business environment. Participating schools create their own businesses that interact with each other on the Virtual Enterprise platform. The South High VE program is led by business teacher Scott Feldman.
