South High Graduates Awarded College-Sponsored Merit Scholarships

On July 10, the National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP) announced two recent South High School graduates as recipients of college-sponsored scholarships. The July 2023 recipients of prestigious college-sponsored scholarships are Brayden Chien, National Merit Claremont McKenna College Scholarship, and Ashley Wu, National Merit Tufts University Scholarship.

Brayden and Ashley are among approximately 750 distinguished high school seniors nationwide who were announced as additional college-sponsored National Merit Scholarship recipients on July 10. These Merit Scholar designees join more than 3,000 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in June. These awards are financed by U.S. colleges and universities.

This year, the National Merit Scholarship Program recognized 57 Commended Students, 27 Semifinalists, and 26 Finalists from the Great Neck Public Schools. Two Great Neck seniors won National Merit $2500 Scholarships and four seniors received college-sponsored Merit Scholarships.
