An eighth-grade student from North Middle School is the winner of a nationwide t-shirt design competition for the Achilles Kids International Marathon Program.
Eighth grader Jewels Rahmanan is the artist behind the winning design. Her artwork will be featured on t-shirts worn by more than 12,000 students and staff members in 320 schools across 23 states as they participate in the 2019 Achilles Kids Marathon Program this spring.
The Achilles Kids International Program is a run/walk/roll program designed for students with disabilities to complete a 26.2 marathon at their own pace, using a virtual map, with incentives along the way.
More than 500 applicants submitted original drawings for the 2019 Achilles Kids t-shirt design contest. Last year, Jewels won second place in the same competition.
