GNPS Ranked Among Best Public School Districts in State and Nation by Niche
The Great Neck Public Schools is honored to be recognized as a 2021 Best School District by Niche. According to the 2021 Niche K-12 School Rankings, Great Neck Public Schools is the second-best school district in New York State and sixth in the nation. The district earned top ratings for academics, teachers, co-curricular activities, and health and safety.
The 2021 Niche K-12 School Rankings are based on a “rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data, and ratings collected from millions of Niche users.”
In addition to the district’s overall rating, each school in the district also appears on the list of best public schools in New York for its respective grade level. Factors in determining an individual school’s place on the list includes an analysis of data, user reviews, test scores, student-teacher ratio, teacher quality, diversity, and the overall quality of the school district.
The list of Best Public Elementary Schools in New York, which ranked almost 2,500 schools, includes Lakeville School (#5), E.M. Baker School (#11), Saddle Rock School (#25), and the John F. Kennedy School (#54). All GNPS elementary schools received an overall Niche grade of A+. (Parkville School, which houses Pre-K and Kindergarten students, is categorized by Niche as an “Early Childhood Center” and does not meet criteria to be included in the elementary rankings.)
The list of Best Public Middle Schools in New York, which ranked more than 1,300 schools, includes South Middle School (#7) and North Middle School (#11). Both GNPS middle schools received an overall Niche grade of A+.
The list of Best Public High Schools in New York, which ranked more than 1,200 schools, includes South High School (#6), North High School (#12), and Village School (#389). North High, South High, and Village School also appear on the Niche.com list of Best High Schools for STEM in New York.
Additionally, North High and South High are included on the state and national lists of Best College Prep Public High Schools, which recognizes “public high schools that best prepare their students for college success.” The Niche ranking for this list is based on graduation rates, AP enrollment, test scores, and the quality of colleges that students consider.
