NASTAR Award Recipient
North High School teacher Samantha Gallagher has been honored as a recipient of the 2022 NASTAR Award, presented by the Nassau Association of School Technologists (NASTECH). The fourth annual NASTAR Awards Ceremony was held at the Nassau BOCES Brookville Outdoor and Environmental Education Center on June 9.
Ms. Gallagher was nominated for this award by Dr. Justin Lander, district technology director, in recognition of her six years as a technology staff developer at North High. She is credited as being one of the earliest adopters of the district’s 1:1 iPad Program at North High and she has led technology-related courses for the GNPS Inservice Institute since 2014, before she became a technology staff developer.
Technology staff developers are members of the district’s instructional staff who take on added responsibilities to support students and staff members as they work and teach with technology every day. After six years in this integral role, Ms. Gallagher will return to teaching social studies full-time at North High next school year.
The Nassau Association of School Technologists (NASTECH) provides school district technology leaders and staff with an array of resources and professional development opportunities. The NASTECH Service created the Nassau Association of School Technologists Award Recipient (NASTAR) awards to honor individuals or teams for innovation, leadership and support of technology initiatives in their school district.
