E.M. Baker School Accepts Great Kindness Challenge

Students hold signs showing their appreciation for local first responders

Students and staff at E.M. Baker School recently participated in the week-long Great Kindness Challenge. From Jan. 25–29, students and staff showed their unity in cultivating kindness in their school and in the community with theme days, fun activities, and classroom lessons.

Each day of the week included a school-wide Zoom activity, where students and staff joined together virtually for guided lessons in art, mindfulness, and physical education.

Students demonstrated gratitude and kindness through their participation in building-wide projects, such as creating a paper chain featuring kind acts, donating non-perishable food items to benefit Island Harvest, and making posters to express appreciation for local first responders and essential workers.

Teachers supported the initiative with special classroom lessons and book read-alouds that focused on the theme of kindness.
